IAAC-INDUS visiting School

We are quiet excited to announce our new collaboration for the visiting program IAAC-INDUS visiting School program, organised between Institute of Design Environment & Architecture (IDEA) at the Indus University, Ahmedabad, India and the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and Fab Lab Barcelona, Spain.

The aim of the visiting program is to explore a paradigm shift in design strategies, defining a new culture of emergent design from top-down to bottom-up strategies. The visiting program will allow students to develop an overview of building science and generative design techniques to link form and building performance. Student will be able to learn about computational design tools and get thorough understanding of different material properties and behaviours, inform the design process through form finding methods and the fabrication techniques. The outputs of the explorations, developed through out the course will be translated into an open process of digital and robotic fabrication strategies, mainly focused on 3d printing and CNC Machines. Hence students will gain insights on which computer tools are nowadays involved into the design process of built environments.

The computational approach enables designers and architects to overcome the imposition of a prefixed form in order to enhance data-driven design. Lectures on computational design, simulation and optimization techniques, analysis and digital fabrication prototyping, are integrated into the course.
